The band's last studio album release was 2021's WITH YOU .
Pronounced as Vintage , Bintage is a combination of the word Vintage & the alphabet B ie. the initial of the band's name which likens their career to vintage wine .
Bintage is the band' 1st studio album since their 2nd album CRASH & BUILD not to include any prior released single songs .
In addition , Bintage is also the band's 1st release to receive Blu-ray version(s) .
Songs in Bintage not written and/or composed by vocalist DAIGO :
1) LADY CAT ; Words & music :AKIHIDE
3) Bintage ; Music : SHINPEI
5) Manatsu no Ame ; Words & music :AKIHIDE
7) Free! Free! ; Words & music :AKIHIDE
Promo wise , track 8 I love my son was chosen as the theme song to promote Zero One Grand Slam 2024 & it's described as a Rock tune filled with paternal love & love for children .
While the last song in Bintage ie. RESTART OF LIBERTY was 1st performed during last year's TEAM BREAKERZ 15th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL LIVE -Kimi no Koe ga Kikoeru- .
I did not know what to expect before listening to BREAKERZ's latest album but luckily most of my doubts were put to rest upon hearing the new material in Bintage .
Standout song wise , Bintage (the song) is most definitely the star in the album as it captures the essences of both the old & new aspects of the group . It's surprising that it's guitarist SHINPEI that composed it because to me it does not sound like something he would compose & the fact that even guitarist AKIHIDE commented he was geniunely surprised when he heard the song's melody says a lot too .
Oddly for once a song named after an album is not the 1st song in the tracklist which in this case , Bintage (the song) should have been track 1 & not track 3 .
Also before hearing Bintage , the song that got my attention title wise is unsurprisingly I love my son which's a sequel to the group's 22nd single I love my daughter but music style wise both songs are very different .
While I love my daughter is a lovely heartwarming piano ballad , I love my son goes the other way round which in this case it's an upbeat Rock song with shades of Punk thrown in & amusingly towards the end of the song , the sound of a baby crying can be heard in the backdrop which was actually made by DAIGO's 2nd child ie. his son .
As for the other tracks in Bintage , I really like Manatsu no Ame & Free! Free! while Killer is excellent . I'm sure these 3 songs would sound really good live . There're no ballads in Bintage so Ano Sora no Freesia & Fuwari are the closest as they're both mid tempo songs .
Overall I really enjoy Bintage a lot more than I thought . It's a risk to release an album without any single songs included but BREAKERZ did that very early on when they 1st started out (let alone 3x) so they know their stuff & I couldn't have been even more proud to continue supporting them for as long as I can .
Promo wise , Kaishin no Ichigeki used as the opening theme no. to promote the anime Grendizer U .
The digital cover of Kaishin no Ichigeki was drawn by the team who worked on Grendizer U which perfectly captures the song's essence .
Guitarist HISASHI commented , "We are truly grateful for the opportunity to have our song featured as the theme for Grendizer U . Kaishin no Ichigeki was inspired during our online meetings before production . In Chief Director Mitsuo Fukuda's bold words , 'Musicians should perform as they like' & 'I will leave the music to you' liberated my creativity , resulting in GLAY's latest unrestrained masterpiece .
Collaborating with such a distinguished team is a significant milestone in our history . Japanese entertainment has profoundly influenced me & I hope to spark an even greater reaction from here in Japan - this is Kaishin no Ichigeki !"
GLAY's 17th album Back To The Pops will be released on 9th Oct & Kaishin no Ichigeki will be included as track 5 in the new album .
Koda's latest song release is a collaboration with Tetsuya Komuro which both of them last worked together on 2001's the meaning of peace .
Jump to the Breeze is described as a Summer tune with a Latin House arrangement that's combined with a live percussion & a sad but moving TK sound .
Promo wise , Jump to the Breeze promoted the video game Azur Lane last year .
Jump to the Breeze has feel good Summer vibes as it features a vibrant melody with live percussion which blended Koda’s vocals together with Tetsuya's signature sound .
Oddly just like ayumi hamasaki's Aurora , Jump to the Breeze was also used to promote Azur Lane & the fact that this song was released last year but only got released digitally recently , I find it a bit strange on what took avex so long to get it officially released .
Aside from that , knowing that it has been such a long time since Koda last collaborated with Tetsuya Komuro is also quite mind blowing to know but that said the wait to me is quite worth it as I enjoy Jump to the Breeze a lot .
