PULL UP! is the theme of Hey! Say! JUMP's 10th album . The group presents a genre-less album with songs of different music styles . Besides the single songs DEAR MY LOVER & Ura Omote , the album also includes Ready to Jump , Daisuki na Kimi e & Sorezore. from the digital EP P.U! .
In addition , there are also new songs created by Kawatani Enon , Hashimoto Eriko & Uru .
Reaching a landmark 10th album milestone is no easy feat for any artiste but Hey ! Say ! JUMP accomplished this with their latest album offering PULL UP! .
Unlike the group's past studio album releases , I don't like all the songs available in PULL UP! even though the album's musically diverse .
That said , the new material in PULL UP! that I really like are actually the ballads such as Ano ni Tsu no Yume o Mi Sasete yo , Kimi no Mikata & Evans Knot while I still enjoy Ready to Jump & Daisuki na Kimi e from the digital P.U! EP release .
As for the other new songs in PULL UP! , Tiki Don is also another standout non ballad no. while the rest are either hit or miss for me .
Considering Hey ! Say ! JUMP has been in the business for a long time , it's understandable that I will not like everything they release & to me it's ok .
I might not have liked PULL UP! as much as I want to but this should not stop others from enjoying the album as they might like it a lot more than me .
This's the 2nd song Koda released digitally for the month after she released Nakayama Miho's Tooi Machi no Dokoka de... on 6th Dec .
Vroom is 1 of 5 songs that's included in Driving Hit's -TOKYO AUTO SALON 2024 Edition- music card . This music card is only available for sale via mu-mo & also TOKYO AUTO SALON 2024 (this event will take place on 10th Jan & Kumi will perform at the event herself) .
When I 1st saw the song title , my immediate thoughts was TRICK's Driving . Other than that , both songs don't sound anything alike which's a pity as up to now , Driving is still 1 of Koda's best album tracks to date .
Regarding Vroom , I think the song gets quite repetitive after a while . Out of the new songs Koda released digitally this year , this so far is probably my least favourite which's a bit of a shame .
Perhaps in due time my opinons towards Vroom will change just like Let's fight for love! which I was not really keen on in the beginning .
And on a side note , I think Vroom is quite a suitable song to listen to when you're driving even though I still feel it's a miss opportunity for Driving not to be included in Driving Hit's -TOKYO AUTO SALON 2024 Edition- .
A video was made for MY DEAREST but IKE does not feature in the video himself .
IKE was originally the vocalist of SPYAIR before he left the group last March to focus on his health issues which're now under control .
Cowritten , co-composed & self produced by IKE himself , MY DEAREST is Christmas inspired & in the song , IKE expresses his gratitude towards fans who continue to support him even after he left SPYAIR .
IKE leaving SPYAIR last year was really devastating as his singing voice was and is still 1 of the most distinct in a JRock group . So when he announced he was making a solo music comeback , I couldn't be any happier about it .
MY DEAREST is a classic Christmas driven ballad . Even though IKE had/has health issues , you wouldn't be able to tell when you listen to MY DEAREST as he still sounds on par if not just as good as ever .
With the digital release of MY DEAREST , IKE also plans to release another new solo song that he personally wrote and composed himself in 2024 .
On that note , welcome back IKE ! As much as I would like to see him return back to SPYAIR , this's better than nothing .
A newly re-recorded version of SPYAIR's 2015 / 17th single , this is the 5th song that SPYAIR re-recorded this year after Samurai Heart (Some Like It Hot!!) , My World , RAGE OF DUST & Imagination .
For casual SPYAIR listeners , the songs that they provided to use to promote the Haikyuu!! anime over the years is still some of their most prominent ones to date so just like Imagination , it's not surprising SPYAIR chose to re-record I'm・A・Believer .
Same with what happend to the new take of Imagination , the new version of I'm・A・Believer does not stray so much from the original take of the song .
To kick off the new year , SPYAIR will release their 1st mini album Orange on 14th Feb . The B sides in Orange will include re-recorded songs SPYAIR has provided for the Haikyu!! anime over the years including I'm・A・Believer .
Originally sung by Nakayama Miho & released back in 1991 , this's Koda's 1st cover song in 4 years and it was released on the same day as Koda's debut anniversary in the business .
In addition , SO FEVER & NEVER GIVE IT UP were released digitally back to back each other on 7th & 8th Dec .
Even though Tooi Machi no Dokoka de... is a cover , that did not stop me from liking this cover song Koda did which I enjoy it a lot more than I thought .
Strangely when I listen to Koda's rendition of Tooi Machi no Dokoka de... , this gives me old music vibes of what Koda used to do . Even the accompanied video Koda made really reminded me of her past Winter inspired original songs like you & Yume no Uta .
Regardless , with Tooi Machi no Dokoka de... being so Christmas inspired , it's more or less the perfect song to listen to during the current festive season .
Koda's new song Vroom was released digitally today on 20th Dec & it will be reviewed soon .
This song was released on the same day as SID Tribute Album -Anime Songs- which voice actors and actresses covered SID's songs specifically that were used to promote numerous different animes over the years .
SID created Soyokaze with the image of a story connected to Binetsu which was released in 2005 during their indie era days .
Described as a gentle and warm number dedicated to SID's fans who have supported them for 20 years , Soyokaze is as heartwarming as it gets . Knowing that there have been fans that have supported them for the last 2 decades , it's really surreal .
Although I did not support SID as long as others , I feel heartened to know that after all this while , I'm still listening to SID .
Here's to more many more happy memories SID will create in years to come !
Promo wise , Soubou was used to promote the movie Ano Hana ga Saku Oka de, Kimi to Mata Deaetara. which was released on the same day as the song's digital release .
Soubou is classic Fukuyama ballad at his very best . Written & composed by Fukuyama himself , Soubou is quite a sad driven ballad which's not surprising given the context of Ano Hana ga Saku Oka de, Kimi to Mata Deaetara. .
Ever since Soubu was released digitally , Fukuyama has been performing & promoting the song quite regularly on TV this month . In some of the TV performances , Fukuyama sung Soubou in full . That usually does not happens due to time constraints but given Fukuyama's status in the music business , he rightfully deserves so .
