Ao no Mirai is JRock trio BREAKERZ's 1st mini album . This was released on 2nd April this year .
No singles are included in the EP . Instead a music video was shot for the song which shares the same title as the EP .
In recent times I have became a rather big fan of this band after they caught my attention with their debut single SUMMER PARTY / LAST EMOTION when MTV Taiwan was playing SUMMER TIME on heavy rotation .
At that time I had no idea who they were & a bit more information about this talented band - they were formed just last April & since then , vocalist DAIGO STARDUST & guitarists AKIHIDE & SHINPEI (the blonde guy) have put out 2 digital singles , 2 full length albums , a mini album & only this year in July , they began to release singles which currently stands at 3 at this point in time .
So I thought it's only fitting that I will review their mini album like about now .
The 1st song is the only song to receive its own video which shares the same title as their EP .
Ao no Mirai (Blue Future) is such a great catchy track , I love the way it sounds the very 1st time I heard/seen the video for it as the tune immediately grabs me on 1st listen & I feel this song definitely deserved a video of its own .
The next 2 songs are rock songs as well . Despite the title Kanashimi (Sad) Days , it sounds nothing like a ballad nor a sad song . Instead it's quite an angsty no. & this's 1 of the more heavier & harder sounding tunes in the EP which I enjoyed .
Similarly for Crystal Night , this song has a rather catchy hook although I must admit it's not as grabbing as I thought it will be initially but this's 1 song that's slowing growing on me in due time & I like the somewhat synth touch to Crystal Night .
The only slow no. in the EP , Positive Night is a keeper & I just adore the acoustic guitar feel on the song . The way DAIGO works his vocals on Positive Night , it's just great & I like the sincerity & earnest coming from him .
The other weak link on the EP is up next . Titled Kimi no Koe ga Kikoeru (You Hear The Voices Of) , I had to take quite a while to get familiarise with this song because it's quite a forgettable no. although I like the music arrangement of Kimi no Koe ga Kikoeru .
The 2nd heavier & harder sounding song on the EP titled FAKE LOVE is another gem . I just like the way how the introduction of FAKE LOVE kicks in within a snap & the whole 'woah woah woah' at the background makes it a bit more easier for me to recall how the song sounds .
The final track DESTROY CRASHER is the most unusual song on Ao no Mirai because in here , DAIGO's voice sounded distorted & it's like he's singing into a tape recorder or something but still I applaud on how unique this sounds & stood out from the pack .
I didn't know what to expect when I 1st decide to give Ao no Mirai a listen especially since no singles were released from the mini album but I'm glad I did because I managed to spot a few gems or 2 hidden in this EP .
I think this trio has a bright future ahead of them & they have plenty of potential brewing in them . So far the singles that they have put out ala SUMMER PARTY / LAST EMOTION , Sekai wa Odoru / Shakunetsu have been superb/great rock no.s & the guys are going to release their 3rd double a-side single Angelic Smile / WINTER PARTY next month on the 5th & I really can't wait for that to happen .

# #1 BREAKERZ fan in Singapore since 2008 debut single ♥
# My music blog consists of JPop/Rock singles & albums reviews that I put my heart , efforts & soul into writing them as I'm disgusted with the way that JPop/Rock music is being treated/written/reviewed in Singapore so to the local media (yes you TEENS , Teenage Magazine & The Strait Times) , screw you all . I basically can write better JPop/Rock reviews , period
