This new single was released 4 months+ since the group's previous single HANDS UP .
Edge of Days was chosen to promote the drama Million Joe starring leader Kitayama Hiromitsu in the lead role .
Based on a manga by Ichimaru Iroha , Million Joe is a suspense story set at an editorial department of a weekly shounen manga . The protagonist , an editor named Kurei Soichi is played by Kitayama .
Edge of Days is described as a rhythmical rock tune with the themes of hope , light & shadow .
The following 3 songs serve as B-sides in the single :
- Mr.FRESH
- Sho Akuma Lip (CD Only Track)
- Innocent (CD Only Track)
Mr.FRESH was used in the ads of Unicharm's Wave Floor Wiper starring member Tamamori Yuta . The described disco song had a video made .
While for Sho Akuma Lip , it's currently used as the theme song to promote dtv's Kisumai Dokidoki-n hosted by Kis-My-Ft2 themselves .
Having celebrated their debut 8th anniversary in August , Kis-My-Ft2 now releases their 25th single Edge of Days . This rhythmic , rock-flavoured number conveys the themes of hope , light & shadow .
Same with HANDS UP , it took me a while to decide if I like Edge of Days or not cos when I 1st heard it , I wasn't sure what to think about it cos it's a bit different from Kis-My-Ft2's previous releases .
But after I saw the video made for the A-side , that easily changed my opinion as I love the spy theme concept of it .
The B-sides in Edge of Days all contrast the A-side quite well . The 1 I'm not really a fan of is Sho Akuma Lip as I felt it's quite a filler song and if Mr.FRESH didn't had a video made , Innocent should be the 1 that get it instead .
That said , Kis-My-Ft2 will conclude 2019 with the release of LIVE TOUR 2019 FREE HUGS! DVD + Blu-ray on 11th Dec .
This song is Aoyama's 2nd back to back month digital released songs , after last month's 1LDK .
Both songs musically do not sound the same & Ikiteru Dake de Gohobi incorporates a message for living a happy life .
In the digital cover of Ikiteru Dake de Gohobi, a representation of family is shown which is 1 of the most important things in life .
The new material that Aoyama released this year , I think they're quite good as compared to what she put out last year with regards to HIGHSCHOOL GAL which I had a hard time liking .
Hopefully next year , Aoyama will release a new album if not maybe put out another mini album as I liked 2015's GREY SMOKE & 2016's PINK TEARS with them being great polar opposites of each other .
3rd Nov is the date that ARASHI celebrated their 20th debut anniversary in the business this year .
The video of Turning Up was filmed in Los Angeles , Hollywood Boulevard & also in Beverly Hills .
I never thought I see the day that a Johnny group would have their single songs made available for online legal purchase + streaming , alongside with having multiple social media accounts in different platforms .
To be frank during the last decade or so , Johnnys have lost out so much as they shunned social media like a plague . That went on until Johnny & Associates can no longer deny that they have to embrace social media , just like what the rest of the world has done .
Let alone so many people outside of Japan are Johnnys' fans & that's not confined within Japan itself .
That said , for ARASHI's 1st introduction to the whole world digitally , Turning Up is a very Westernised song which's nothing like what they've done previously .
Then again , Turning Up is not the 1st ARASHI song they've done that has a Western style . Their 2013 / 12th album LOVE was very Westernised sound wise so Turning Up would have fit in at that time when LOVE was released .
To me , Turning Up is a fun catchy song . The only thing I'm not so keen is the rather over usage of autotune in it , if that was cut down a bit , that would have been better .
And the video for Turning Up is extremely funny & entertaining . For longtime fans like myself , there're quite a lot of fun Easter eggs spread out in the video that ARASHI thrown in for good measure .
Just like the past digital released songs that Koda has released over the past few weeks , again was included in Koda's 17th album re(CORD) that was released on 13th Nov , on the same day as Koda's birthday .
again is included in re(CORD) as track 6 & a video was made for the song .
Considering that the songs Koda released over the last few weeks were all relatively upbeat tracks , it's refreshing that she concluded the consecutive digital releases with a ballad in the form of again .
Koda's ballads are either hit or miss but for me when I 1st heard again , I like it .
Let alone , the video of again paid homage to the videos of both you & Ai no Uta which no doubt brought back great nostalgic memories surrounding both tracks which up to now still stood the test of time of Koda's discography , especially you as it was Koda's very 1st number 1 single .
1) NEXT
2) asteroid
3) Akuma no Sasayaki
4) altar
5) REVERSE
Containing 5 songs , the mini album was 1st released digitally before the physical copy of the EP was eventually sold at last month's The strange treat! ~CRUISE TICKET~ & ~EXPRESS TICKET~ concerts .
After The strange treat! ~CRUISE TICKET~ & ~EXPRESS TICKET~ concluded last month , the physical copy of odd sting & intrigue EP can now be ordered online .
To say I was pleasantly real surprised how good the material was in odd sting & intrigue is an understatement as it has been so long since I was last been very impressed with Kanon's material .
Prior to odd sting & intrigue , I still feel that Kanon's best material was when she released her debut album Shinshoku Dolce a decade ago as Malice Mizer's Mana did a great job overseeing Kanon's material .
But after that over the years , the material that Kanon personally created herself weren't able to match up to what Mana did for her .
That said the material in odd sting & intrigue EP is easily some if not the best material that Kanon created to date . The only song I'm not so keen on is the last track REVERSE but the others were pretty good .
The other 4 songs in the mini album are not as emo downright dark unlike Kanon's old material but hearing them brings back memories of the good kind .
Now that Kanon is based overseas , I sure hope I wouldn't need to wait so long before she come back with new music but for now , odd sting & intrigue EP no doubt is a fine release that's well deserved to be part of Kanon's discography .
And in this scenario , quality triumphs over quantity .
This song featured rap vocals by 5lack .
Unlike COCOROZASHI & ROAD , FALLIN' is a nice slow mid tempo chilled out song . My only grip about it is 5lack as I feel his rapping vocals kind of spoil FALLIN' .
I'm sure FALLIN' would have been a lot more better without 5lack & also it's quite short length wise as well .
FALLIN' will be included in JASMINE's new mini album JASMINE2.0 that will be released on 25th Nov .
Just like the past digital released songs that Koda has released over the past few weeks , GET NAKED will be included in 17th album re(CORD) that will be released this Wed on 13th Nov , on the same day as Koda's birthday .
GET NAKED is included in re(CORD) as track 2 .
I don't like all the digital released songs that Koda released over the last few weeks & unfortunately , GET NAKED happened to be 1 of them alongside with DO ME .
When I 1st heard GET NAKED , I thought it sounded like WATCH OUT!! ~DNA~ which was 1 of my least favourite tracks in Koda's previous album DNA and that's not a good thing .
Oddly while Koda made a short video version for GET NAKED , it's a bit strange that neither the videos for GET NAKED or STRIP will be in the DVD / Blu-ray of re(CORD) .
Perhaps both videos might be included in the video release of KODA KUMI LIVE TOUR 2019 re(LIVE) ?

1) Suki Suki Suki
2) Suki Suki Suki Karaoke ~Atae Shinjiro ver.~
3) Suki Suki Suki Karaoke ~Aoyama Thelma ver.~
4) Suki Suki Suki (Instrumental)
Written and composed by Atae & Aoyama , Suki Suki Suki is described as a ballad about a girl & a boy who aren't able to be honest about their feelings for each other
Prior to the single's physical release , the A-side was 1st released digitally on 27th Sept .
Suki Suki Suki is a nice mid tempo song . I don't listen to AAA so before this , I had no idea how Atae Shinjiro sounds like vocally but his vocals compliment Aoyama quite well .
The only part I don't like about Suki Suki Suki is that it ended so abruptly just like that without any prior notice but other than that , hopefully this will not be the 1st & last time both artistes release something together .
